Nutritional Content and Bioactive Compounds of Banana Peel and Its Potential Utilization: A Review

چکیده

Banana is one of the popular fruits among consumers due to their excellent nutritional value. However, banana peel, fruit’s main secondary product or a significant by-product in processing, generally abandoned and discarded as waste. peels are rich content such protein, carbohydrates, fat, moisture, ash contents. They also high bioactive compounds phenolic (flavonoids) various types carotenoids (lutein, alpha-carotene, beta-carotene). Phenolic effectively protect human body against diseases, specifically oxidative stress-related diseases. Due all advantages peels, plenty potential utilization could be explored, including citric acid production by Aspergillus niger, traditional medicine, foods, pharmaceutical industries, well dietary incorporation. Thus, this paper discussed contents peel food additives, supplements, pharmaceuticals. This then help minimize number agro-solid waste disposal from industry processing into value-added products.
